Preparing Your Home for Spring

As the seasons change, the maintenance that your home requires changes as well. In the late winter and early spring, you will need to take specific steps to get your home ready for the warm weather that is approaching. You will also need to clean up the debris left behind after California's moderate winter months. To get your home ready this year, take a look at some of the most important maintenance steps that experts recommend.

Improve Indoor Air Quality

Did you know that on average, your indoor air quality is 90% worse than the quality of air outside? And now with quarantine, you’re spending more time indoors than ever before! Imagine all of the particles, bacteria, and germs that are circulating throughout your home’s air for you to breathe.

Poor air quality can lead to a wide range of health problems while exacerbating preexisting conditions.

The most common air quality problems are caused by air conditioners that are not maintained on a regular basis. Air conditioners circulate the air in your home sometimes all day long. In ordinary cases, air conditioners are able to filter out dust, allergens, and other harmful particles. However, if you aren’t replacing your air filters as often as you’re supposed to they can stop working correctly.

As a rule of thumb, you should replace your air filters every 30-90 days, so jot that down in your calendar now!

AC Maintenance

Next on the list of your summer preparation to-dos is air conditioning maintenance! Every spring and fall you should call your local HVAC company and have them perform seasonal maintenance on your unit. Every season is different so you want to make sure that your unit is ready to keep you comfortable! We are also prepared for any repair or replacement needs you may have.

Window Screen Cleaning

There is nothing wrong with letting fresh air into your home, in fact, we encourage it! It may be one of the few ways you can get fresh air in times like these. But before you open that window wide, there a few things you’ll want to consider.

First, it’s not a good idea to run your air conditioner with the window open, it’s just a waste of all of that precious cold air.

Next, clean those screens! Fresh air is going to blow through your home and with it will come all of that dust, dirt, and bug guts that have been sitting on your window screen since the last time you cleaned it!
